A group of political, traditional and religious leaders from Kano State have assured Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello of mobilizing over two million votes for him in Kano if he runs for President in 2023.
This is just as the group also promised to transfer the support they have been giving President Muhammadu Buhari since 2003 he started contesting for president.
Governor Bello of late has made his intention of running for Presidency come 2023 known. In many forums, he advocated for a power shift to the younger generation which he said he is best qualified for the job.
Also, many groups including Person’s Living With Disability had called on the Governor to contest for President in 2020.
The leader of the Kano State group, Alhaji Shuaibu Idris while speaking at the Kogi State Governors Lodge in Abuja said they gave President Buhari two million votes in Kano state during the last Presidential election, but will give more to Governor Bello in 2023.
“Kano state has been a political stronghold of President Buhari since 2003 up to date, and we want to assure Mr President that we want to convert that love, affection and support when he successfully completed his tenure and hand it over to you (Governor Bello).
“We gave Mr President 2 million votes, but our youth have increased, and we know our vote has increased, we will give you (Governor Bello) more than 2 million votes, I want you to go to sleep and hand over Kano to us”, Alhaji Idris said.
On his part, Governor Bello said the Kano group which he also belongs to, are loyalists of President Buhari, and they had come to identify with him and appreciate the transformation currently happening in Kogi State.
“These are loyalists of President Muhammadu Buhari from Kano state, which I am equally a member, so if you see me jumping high for President Buhari, these are my leaders and members, therefore, they have come to recognise one of their own, to appreciate the little achievement we are achieving for the people of Kogi state”, the Governor noted.
